Healthy School

Message from Warwickshire School Health and Wellbeing Service:

With National Obesity Awareness Week taking place next week (13th – 20th Jan), we wanted to take the opportunity to promote positive messages about living healthier lifestyles to children and young people.

We have therefore put together the Healthy Living Worksheet, which contains key information about diet and physical activity, and related activities/games for children and young people to complete.

Information about our health services and resources regarding healthy living can also be found on our webpage -

Macmillan Coffe Morning
Macmillan Coffe Morning

Thank you to everyone who supported our Macmillan coffee morning. It was a great event. We had this little message from one of our parents:

'A big thank you for inviting us to Macmillan morning! All the children were so polite. My Mum even mentioned about the children recommending cakes, holding doors

and thanking us for coming on the way out. Well done Boughton Leigh Junior School!

Christmas Song Competition
What is the perfect recipe for a Christmas Song? A memorable chorus? A great riff? Some snuggly lyrics that make you feel all warm inside?
Year five and six set out on a mission this half term to write their own Christmas Song. We started with lyrics, deciding on a Christmassy theme or a Wintery theme and for this project, I then let creativity take over. It's so interesting to see how the children work with an empty canvas, so to speak, with only a few guidelines to help them along.
I had so many entries that were worthy of a prize, some great ideas that showed lots of potential, but there had to be one winner. It's called "Thank you" - words that perhaps don't get enough of a look in at Christmas time. The lyrics were a perfect mix of those "snuggly" words, a little bit of humour, a slow opening  and with a memorable chorus.
Huge congratulations to Emily, Shantai, Mary-Anne and Daisy, all from 6 Tolkein. They are the worthy winners of our very first BLJS Christmas Song Competition. I almost can't wait for Christmas 2020, but I guess we'd better do Christmas 2019 first. I hope you have a happy one and safe and peaceful time with those that you love.

Partners across Coventry and Warwickshire are looking to utilise money made available from NHS England to reduce waiting times for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services across Coventry and Warwickshire, therefore as part of the CAMHS Coventry and Warwickshire Local Transformation Plan we plan to commission additional resources in addressing wait times for ASD diagnostic assessments.
In order to obtain views from parents, carers and schools professionals we have created a short 3 question survey on experiences of using the current ASD assessment process for children and young people with their views on future provisions.
